A2 Box Tutorial

Okay...here is the tutorial I talked about on my Unity blog hop post. This is the first ever blog tutorial I have done, so I hope you can understand my instructions! Please feel free to ask if anything is not clear! I will answer any and all questions!
You will need to start with a 10" by 12" sheet of cardstock. You will score the 12" side as seen above, at 1", 5.5", 6.5" and 11". I used my scor pal, but any scoring tool will work.

Now you will turn your paper and on the 10" side will score at 1", 2", 8" and 9".

Sorry for the scribbles! LOL! It was hard to see with just the X's. The scribbled parts are the parts you will cut away.

Next you will cut slits which will create flaps, as seen in the photo above.

Above, I used painter's tape to show where you will put your adhesive.
I hope this tutorial is helpful! If you create a box, why not upload it and link it here, so we can all see it! If you upload it to SCS, use keyword EMMIEA2!
Stay tuned tomorrow...I will be back with another project!

Today is all about Hip Hop Hangover and ALONE time!

Happy Hip Hop Hangover! I didn't get to hip hop much yesterday because my computer was acting up and we had a little birthday celebration for my Dad in the evening.
The stamps are from Unity's March KOTM. Get yours while you still can for $24 this month! It is such a versatile set, and I LOVE IT! The card base is kraft, and I CB'd the Ridinghood Red panel and matted with chocolate chip. I paper pieced the trees in kiwi kiss and old olive and the apples were a booger...in riding hood red. I used soft sky to sponge for the sky, and various browns for the ground beneath the tree. I punched my "together" with the word window punch. The buttons were in my red button jar...haven't a clue what company they belong to!
This card is for my hubby. I CHERISH our alone time together. Children are such a blessing, but silence and alone time are golden! Notice there are not three "baby" trees anywhere on the card! LOL! Just two big trees happy in love! This card is all about us!
Hope you all get some special "together" time this weekend with the one you love!

Hugs and Smiles!

Jazzy Inspiration Challenge!

This is a card I made for Tenia's Jazzy Inspiration Challenge. The colors were Pacific Point, Ridinghood Red and white! You can see the album cover above that was used for the inspiration piece. This has been a go-to layout for me recently. I used a Billy stamp from Pink Cat Studios. I think Billy is so darn cute, and his counter part is Lily, if you prefer a girly image! My oldest son loves when I make anything with Billy on it! He also likes to color in the Billy images. I colored the image with SU reinkers and markers. I CB'd the red panel behind the image and matted everything in black.

Saturday is Unity's World Record blog hop! It should be fun to check out everyone's creations. I will be participating!

Have a great day!

Wind Down!

Today's Color Challenge over on SCS is Pretty in Pink, Kiwi Kiss, and Baja Breeze. I love this combo! Such a feminine color combo! I made this card with one of my new stamps from MFT. Have you checked out their Bubble Bin? Some really great deals! I can see where I am going to have to restrain my self from buying every week!

When I was growing up, my grandparents had a bathroom in their house that was completely tiled in Baja Breeze colored tiles. I LOVED that bathroom. I can still visualize it to this day. I loved taking baths in that big blue tub and can remember tracing the tile designs with my fingers along the walls. It is such a vivid memory that I can remember the smells of my grandfather's aftershave and the faint smell of bleach from my Grandmother's always clean as a whistle house! Just had to share that with you all! Thanks for listening!

I stamped my image in Momento's tuxedo black on watercolor paper. I used my reinkers and an aqua painter to color the image. I used a gold gel pen to color in the claw feet and hardware on the tub. Card base is Pretty in Pink, and I also used baja breeze and kiwi kiss to mat. The dp is from Basic Grey's Urban Prairie collection. Added some gold brads in the corners to tie in the gold hardware on the tub. The ribbon is pretty in pink taffeta.

Thanks for stopping by today! I always enjoy your comments! Have a great day!

Inky Impressions 1st Design Team Call!

Hello! So I have decided to put in for Inky Impressions Design Team. Here are the cards that I made for the call. Above I colored this image from Sugar Nellie with copics and prisma alcohol markers. I also colored the sentiment letters to match his shirt. The DP is from Cosmo Cricket's Cogsmo line. I added some black circles with brads in the lower left corner. I gave this card to my nephew for his birthday last night because I knew that Grandma was buying him guitar hero!

Below is a card I made with MFT's Hoppy Easter set. I colored the image with my prisma pencils and used the gamsol magic technique to blend. I added some stickles to the egg and sponged the sky with soft sky ink. This is a 4.5 x 4.5 card. I used the swiss dots embossing folder on the lower white panel and my card base is Baja Breeze. I layered the image on So Saffron and pretty in pink paper. The ribbon is taffeta. The sentiment is stamped on so saffron paper and punched with an oval punch and layered with a pink punched oval. I think I may do this as my Easter card this year. I really love the soft colors and the way it turned out!

Good luck to all of the very talented ladies who have submitted for this design team!

New Artful Inkables set!

Wow! What a week! I haven't gotten much stamp time in, but I did manage to ink up this new set I got from Artful Inkables. I love this set because it reminds me of berry picking in Michigan's UP with my sisters as a child. Wild blueberries and rasberries...YUM!
I colored my image with copics, prisma pencils and used my soft sky reinker and aqua painter for the sky. I was really impressed with how large the images were in this set and they stamp like a dream! The price is great too...$9.95! Here is the link to Artful Inkables. I also bought some awesome ribbon!
I have been on a spending spree as of late...Artful Inkables, Unity Kit Of The Month, My favorite Things, my Stampin Up mini pre-order.... I better get busy and start using it all!
I will have some more projects for you this weekend!

Tweet Trio

Hello! I made this card for this weeks CAS challenge on SCS. CAS stands for "Clean and Simple" card. We were to get our inspiration from the Robeez children's shoes site. How fitting that my birdies are wearing little soft soled shoes! I bet they bought them from the Robeez site! LOL! The bird stamps are from Studio G ($1 bin at M's). The sentiment is PTI's mixed message set. I colored my birdies with copics and used the swiss dots CB folder for the ridinghood red panel. I have been using my CB folders alot here lately!

Enjoy the day!

Cute & Curious!

Hello! Here is the page I came up with for Sally's Friday sketch on SCS found HERE. I really like the way it turned out! You can't go wrong with this Archaic paper from Basic Grey, though! I also used some Archaic rub-ons on the page. This is another page of Luke, my wild child! Although I am trying to get caught up on Will's albums, I feel like I neglect the twins, so I have tried to do some more pages of them lately. I need to take a week vacation by myself and just scrapbook, and I probably still wouldn't be caught up! LOL!

Below is the sketch. I LOVE this sketch! I may even try to use this sketch again this week! Give it a try and link your page in the SCS thread!

Have a great day!

This is one of the cards I had everyone make at my class on Saturday. The base is Pink Piroette. The image is stamped in chocolate chip and colored with SU markers. Buzzy The Bee

Hello! I should be sleeping right now, but instead I checked out the challenge on SCS, and one thing led to another, and I made a card! I have been up for well over 24 hours now! My brain is getting foggy, so if there are a ton of typos...I apologize.

The limited supply challenge today was to make a card with a bug on it, limit your card to 4 layers and NO patterned paper! The bee image and sentiment are Studio G stamps (from the $1 bin at Michael's). I colored my bee with prisma pencils and blended with gamsol. I added some crystal effects to his wings. I CB'd the blue panel with the d'vine swirls folder, and created a background scene for my bee by using a scallop circle as a template for my clouds. I sponged the blue ink around it as I moved my cloud template. I drew in the grass with my prismas and blended with gamsol, too.

This was really pretty easy to make. My card base is 2.5 x 8.5 folded in half. It is a cute little card, just twice the size of a scrapling! I added some gingham ribbon at the top!

Thanks for looking!

Luck O' The Irish Box

So, I am sure you have seen some type of rendition of this little guy! He is everywhere it seems, so I do not know who to give credit to for this design. I will tell you the various punches I used to create my leprechaun.
I punched the scallop circle from Really Rust. I then layered a 1 3/8 punched circle of blush blossom onto that. To create my mustache, I used the horizontal slot punched twice. I punched two black circles with a regular hole punch for the eyes and added white dots with my gel pen. The nose is punched from blush blossom with a regular hole punch. The hat is the small tag punch and the brim is the word window punch. These are both glorious green. I think the ONLY time I ever use glorious green is for St. Patrick's Day! LOL!

I cut a strip of black for the hat band and added a gold square brad. I drew the little mouth on with a pen.The box template can be found on SCS HERE. This was a technique challenge and if you scroll down to the bottom of Lynn's post, you will find the pdf file to open.

I stamped little shamrocks on the outside of my box from the Occasions collection hostess set. I used some black felt ribbon for my band and the sentiment is layered with scallop and circle punches. Have no idea who made the sentiment stamp but I know I have had it FOREVER!

This was so much fun to make, and if you are coming to my class this Saturday, we will be making this! If you live a million miles away and come, then try to make one with what you've got at home! They are super cute, and a good way to use up some glorious green!

Have a super great day!

Friendly Forest Hello!

Hello! Finally had some time to make a card today! This is for this week's sketch challenge over at SCS found HERE. I used choclate chip for my base and kraft for my swiss dots panel. I sponged brown ink around the edges. I used my scallop edge punch to create a border around the triangle piece. All DP is from my current favorite Friendly Forest collection by Colorbok. Love that stuff. The stamps used are Unity's tiny trinity. That is my current favorite set of Unity's. I use it all of the time. I stamped the trees in chocolate chip and cut them out and used my marker to fill in the details fro the trunks.

I have to get ready for a class I am having on Saturday, so I have a ton of cutting to do! Hopefully I can post those projects soon!

Have a Wonderful Wednesday!

My Little Froggie page!

Here is a page I did with the Unfrogettable set! I was inspired by many different things to make this! Several inspiration challenges, and the fact that this stamp set was still sitting on my table along with the papers, and my prisma pencils!

I colored the frog and toad stool with prismas, and used gamsol to blend! I popped my froggie up with dimensionals! I sponged taken with teal and green galore around my sentiment oval. Used my CB folders on my strip of taken with teal and green galore. I matted my photo with black. Added some primas and buttons and page done! I really like the LO for this page. It is clean and simple, which allowed for all of the time I spent coloring and cutting the froggie out!

Have a great day!

Jazzy Inspirations challenge 7

Good morning, everyone! I am the Jazz Cat of The Week (guest designer) over on Tenia's challenge blog! Above you will find the Jazzy Inspiration Challenge for this week. The colors from the album are Green Galore, Tempting Turquoise, white, and black! I thought this one was a tuffy, but I instantly thought of frogs! LOL! I got out this retired SU set, and got to work.

I colored my mushroom image and frog with prisma pencils and blended with gamsol. I cut out my froggie and popped him with dimensionals on top of the mushroom. Used the swiss dots and Lots of dots (I think that's the name) cuttlebug folders. I added some white grosgrain ribbon up top, and punched my sentiment with the oval punch! I love the way this turned out. This is such a fun set, and I always love an excuse to get it out and play!

Stop on over to the Jazzy Inspirations Challenge blog and upload your card if you play! You may be the next Jazz Cat of the Week!

Stay tuned, because I will have a scrapbook page tomorrow with the same set!

Hugs!

Super easy Limited Supply Challenge card!

I made this for the LSC210. You can find all of the deets HERE. Basically, we were to make a card in under 30 minutes! Sometimes it is nice to go back to basics. No frills, no coloring-just stamp and be done with it! This was super easy to make. All paper was from my scrap bin. I used my punches, which saved LOADS of time and one little strip of DP across the middle!

Stamps: Life's A Breeze-SU

Paper: Soft Sky, White, DP is SU's retired Jersey Shore (I think!)

Ink: Black, Soft Sky

I used my SU circle and scallop punch to make my "sun"!

I am yearning for some warm weather, so I am on a beach themed kick!

Check back tomorrow! I am the Jazz Cat of The Week (guest designer) over at Jazzy Inspirations, so I will have this week's challenge card posted tomorrow!

Have a FANTABULOUS Friday!

My first ever ATC card!

I made this ATC for the What to use challenge over on SCS. I have never made an ATC, so I thought I would give it a try! I also completely admire the beautiful scenes created by my blog bud, Lisa. She is completely AMAZING! I decided to try to make a tiny scene on my ATC, thinking small would be easy...NOT! So after viewing the final product I decided that I attempted one too many 'firsts' for this card! LOL!

All stamps are from my Unity grab bag-palm tree, sun and fun sentiment. I cut out my palm tree which was tedious and took forever due to its small size. I brayered soft sky for my sky. I cut a piece of baja breeze and then sponged baja breeze ink over it for my water. I added some waves with my white gel pen. I cut out an "island" out of kraft paper and sponged some chocolate chip over it and drew in some lines with a marker. The sun is stamped with summer sun craft ink and the sentiment is stamped in pumpkin pie inside the sun.

I cut the boat shape out of chocolate chip paper and shaded with my marker for depth. I used a small piece of just twine to tie my boat to the tree. I made a slit in the baja breeze paper to stick my boat down in the water and roughed up the edge so it looked like water lapping against the side.

Thanks for looking at my first ATC and first "scene" card! I now worship Lisa's skills even more than before!

Chloe's Closet paper is YUM!

I made this for the Sketch challenge on SCS found HERE. I just bought this Chloe's closet paper by Making Memories. I LOVE it! It is so summery and fun! The stamp is from an old SU set Oh, So Lovely-an oldie but goodie! My card base is So saffron and I used the swiss dots CB folder on it. I matted the DP and the image with Pumpkin Pie. The ribbon is something I bought ages ago at the dollar store! I bought a few copics yesterday, so I decided to start small and with only one color! LOL! I figured I couldn't mess it up!

Have a great day! I am glad mine is almost over! Very stressful day with my twins. My son Max has some special needs which I have talked about before and is probably going to qualify for our school districts pre-school program. It will be great for him because he will have speech, OT and PT working with him all week at school on top of what we private pay for. The other twin Luke, did not qualify, which I knew he wouldn't. I was shocked to learn that they will not accept Luke into preschool until he is 4! They said they only accept 3 year olds who are "atypical" or special needs! My heart is breaking thinking that I will have to take them to two different pre-schools. I planned on separating them when they got to grade school, but not pre-school. Max needs Luke and Luke needs Max. I am starting to cry again just typing about it! It may not seem like a big deal, and in the long run, probably isn't. It is just breaking my heart...no way else to explain it. I could go on and on but I will get over it. Life goes on! Everything happens for a reason, right?

Super Spectacular Button Deal at Hobby Lobby!

Well...I don't have a card for you today or a scrapbook page, but I do want to let you know about a great deal at Hobby Lobby for those who are close to one! I found these buttons for $1.08! I opened the blue container up and there were 73 buttons! I {heart} buttons, so I grabbed them up in boyish colors! They also had pink and purple! They come in really nifty containers, too!

These were NOT in the scrapbook section. I found these in the aisle where they have the T-shirts and flip flops that you can decorate. It is toward the back of the store kind of in the middle (at my hobby lobby anyway!) I am so mad because I went to two HL's today, and of course didn't find this deal until I went to the second one! Oh well! I have more than enough buttons to last me for a long time! LOL!

Just thought I would let you guys know!

Hello! Today I am hostessing the IFC over on SCS. My challenge is to scraplift or be inspired to make a page based on one of Jennipher (stamptician)'s pages. Jennipher normally hosts the IFC, but is taking this month off.

This page is of my little Luke! I {heart} this photo of him! He looks so sweet and innocent. He is sooooooo my wild child, but knows how to give you a look that would melt your heart! He will need those big puppy dog eyes someday, I'm sure! I used paper from K&Co.'s Daydream collection and all stamps are from Unity.

If you get a chance why not give this challenge a try! I would love to see what you come up with!

Have a Marvelous Monday!

Not so great Scrapbook LO, and blog candy WINNER!

I made this page for Sally's sketch challenge over at SCS found HERE. I really loved this sketch, but am so NOT happy with the way my page turned out! The DP I used and the journaling block are from Creative Memories. I am just not a creative memories kind of girl.
