Operation Priceless

Hello!  I wanted to let all of my paper crafting friends know about a charity I am helping.  The name of this group is Operation Priceless.  They make care packages to send to children in both Haiti and The Dominican Republic.  They box up school supplies for the children, and also include a handmade card with the care package.  HERE is the information along with a couple of flyers explaining their needs.

Due to the extreme heat in these countries, they ask for simple one layer type cards. A lot of adhesives and multiple layers do no hold up in the extreme heat.  Also, you need to stay away from certain images that may be offensive to their cultures. No Halloween, Christmas, fairies or anything having to do with magic.  I chose to stick with butterflies and flowers for girl themed cards, and geometric images like stars and circles for the boys.  I do know that soccer and basketball are very popular sports in these countries if you have any of those type of images.  There is a thread in the forums over on SCS HERE.  This is where I learned about this cause.  If you are willing to send some cards, please post over in that forum or let me know by email and I will pass it on to them.

There are several sentiments they suggest using when you click on the link I provided.  Creole for Haiti and Spanish for The Dominican Republic.  You can either make these sentiments computer generated, or simply hand write them on the inside.  A lot of these children speak little to no English, so no sentiments unless you use one of theirs.  If you do not have time to print or write out the sentiments in their languages, just leave them blank, as I am sure they will appreciate your handmade card without!!!

Here are a couple of examples of what I have made:

Creole sentiment which means, "I am glad you are my friend"

Spanish sentiment meaning, "You are special to me"

Butterfly Kisses...

Hi, there!  Today I have a card using the butterflies2build set from The Stamps Of Life.  Stephanie just released matching dies for this set! She will be releasing new dies every month.  So exciting! I used some older K&Company DP on this card. I sponged distress inks on all paper edges and added some twine from The Twinery to the top.  This die set is the large butterfly, the large wing shape and the smaller wing shape.
I am off to do some more cleaning and reorganizing in my craft studio.  I need more storage bins and organizers, but trying to decide what is going to be most efficient for my work area.  I keep telling my twins that if they don't start keeping their toy room clean (which is twice the size of my studio) that we are going to switch spaces!  Their toy room has become a glorified toy closet.  They do not play in their toy room, but still drag toys out into the basement family room, or upstairs to the living room!

Rain or Shine!

Hi! Today I have another card made with the umbrella4you set by The Stamps Of Life.  The sentiment and raindrops are from this set.  The sun is actually from the summer4fun set and I pieced it with some October Afternoon DP.  I used the top of the cupcake die from TSOL to create my cloud.
It is a beautiful day here in Ohio. The sun is shining and it is super warm for February. A great day to play outside with my guys.

On a side note:  I have noticed that my blog is doing wonky things as of late.  For no apparent reason, it will only show a couple of my posts on a page, when I actually have my blog set to show 12 blog posts per page before you have to click to go back and view more.  Has anyone else had this happen? If so, how the heck do I fix it?!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge-happy spring!

Hello!  Today I am sharing a card I made with my first ever Paper Smooches stamp set! I know, I know...what took me so long, right?  Well...I have been trying to show some restraint in my stamp spending, but NOT buying any PS stamps has been super crazy hard! But...I was lucky enough to win the Spring Fling set on Kryssi Ng's blog on their last hop.  I think I (or my wallet) am in big trouble! These stamps are so easy to love and create with.
I was inspired by the colors in the inspiration photo below.  I used some My Mind's Eye Beloved designer paper to piece the tulip and butterfly, and also for the scalloped panel.  I added some of my new Flax baker's twine from The Twinery and voila'!

Go Fish Challenge #11-Text

 

Time for another Go Fish challenge! This week's challenge is a "text" or "typeset" theme.  I decided to stamp a silhouette image from my new CTMH stamp set Winter Joy, onto text paper by Girl's Paperie.  I also used some papers from echo park.  I used distress inks in antique linen and walnut stain for all of my paper edges.  The image and sentiment are stamped in black.  The sentiment is from ippity set Season Of Joy.
