FWF: Happy Fall!

HOORAY! It's Friday.  I am itching for a weekend of fun, fall kinds of things! Last weekend, I was taking care of poor little Max.  I think he is well enough that we can go to the pumpkin farm and squeeze in a showing of Hotel Transylvania!
Today, I have a card using an ippity set called, Fall For You.  This is one of my favorite sets! I kept it supper simple.  I recently purchased a set of Gelatos from Faber Castell. I colored the pumpkin with those, and love the look I achieved.  I have never been quite as into coloring, but lately I am intrigued. It is super therapeutic to sit down and try to get the shading just right.
This fits the Unity WCMD challenge-fall theme.  I wonder if I will get ALL of those challenges done in time? We shall see...

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Halloween Harvest...

Hi, there! Today I have a card to share using a sentiment from Unity, and the pumpkin and wagon are from Heartfelt Creations.  I pulled out my My Mind's Eye Mischievous paper pad for this one. I love orange, aqua and brown for fall themed cards.  It is a more refreshing, vintage color theme for fall. I distressed all of the paper edges, and added distress inks to everything including the baker's twine.  I love the look the distress ink gives to the twine!  The wagon is popped with foam dots, and I cut a slit in the wagon to tuck that pumpkin down into.  I added an old button to a memo pin to stick through the baker's twine bow.  I used a woodgrain embossing folder on the brown card stock panel, and then sponged white ink over it.

Last night we had some storms which cooled everything off. It was a beautiful evening and a cool, foggy morning getting boys on the bus today. I am happily awaiting fall's approach!

Heartfelt Creations: Autumn Harvest Gift Box

Hello! I have a little gift box project to share with you today.  I recycled one of those round Laughing Cow cheese containers to make this one.  They are so easy to re-purpose, and I love the circular shape.  I used new dies, patterned paper and stamps from the newest Heartfelt Creations release, Classic Editions.  The papers are so delish and I love all of the different colors and patterns.

Make sure you check out the Heartfelt Creations blog, for more inspiration from the DT.  You will find a product supply list and instructions to recreate this box below.

HCPC 3484-Pumpkin Harvest PreCut Set
HDC 724-Classic Edition dies
HCDP1 224-Classic Editions Paper Collection
Spellbinders large circle and scallop circle dies
other supplies: white and brown acrylic paint, empty cheese container (I use Laughing Cow brand), watercolor paper, Vintage buttons, May Arts green and ivory burlap twine, hot glue gun, score tape, Tombow Multi glue, MS scallop border punch, Antique Linen Distress ink, Black Staz-on ink, SU markers for coloring pumpkin, blender pens for watercoloring
Stamp pumpkin onto watercolor paper with Black Staz-on ink. Color with SU markers and then use blending pen to achieve watercolor effect. Use coordinating die to cut pumpkin.  Paint round cheese box with brown acrylic paint with 2-3 coats and let dry (remove as much of labels as you can before applying paint).  Sponge white acrylic paint on edges to give a distress look.  Using Spellbinders circle dies, cut circles out of coordinating patterned paper to fit inside the box and to cover top of box. Use a strong adhesive to attach inside and to top of box such as Tombow Multi. Use Spellbinder's scallop circle die to create a mat for your pumpkin image out of lighter patterned paper.  Cut a strip of green patterned paper that measures 12" x 2". Crumple the paper up and then uncrumple and fan fold paper to create a pleated rosette.  I used my fingernail to distress the edges and sponged some white acrylic paint on the pleats to create a distressed look.  To hold the rosette together, use a hot glue gun to squirt a liberal amount of glue in the center of rosette and adhere to a piece of scrap paper that will not show underneath. Hold about 30 seconds until glue sets.  Attach rosette to top of box lid using hot glue and attach the scallop circle with pumpkin to the top and center of rosette. Add button and twine.  Punch long strips of scallops in lighter patterned paper to fit around lip of lid. I punched two strips of paper measuring 12" x 3/4" and attached with score tape. I trimmed off the excess from the second strip.  Tie green burlap string around the top of lid twice and add button and tie in bow.  This is perfect to add some fall treats, or a small gift for a friend.

Heartfelt Creations: Raspberries and Pumpkins!

Hello!  I have a couple of Heartfelt Creations cards to share today. The first features beautiful raspberries on the vine. I love picking fresh raspberries in Michigan each summer. There is nothing better!  I love the deep reds with just a hint of pink.  Delicious!
This next card features a pumpkin on the vine.  I recently harvested a bunch of pumpkins from our garden.  I did not plant them, but they came up from last year.  I boiled them and canned them to use in my fall recipes.  I added a touch of glitter to the pumpkin and flower on this card.
You can find the instructions and supply lists for both of these cards below. Make sure to check out what the rest of the design team has been up to on the Heartfelt Creations blog.

Tradefish Desings-Nuts About You

Hi!  Today I want to share a card using a fab new set from Tradefish Designs called Got Leaves?  I love all of the images and matching sentiments in this set.  My favorite, has got to be the acorns and this sentiment. I remember collecting acorns when I was little and thinking that they looked like a little head with a hat on top.  Me and my husband's old house had a HUGE oak tree in the front.  One year we literally had acorns EVERYWHERE! The squirrels were sure happy, but I only wish they would have taken more for themselves!  They were a real pain to try and pick up out of the yard, flower beds, and the gutters.

Okay...on to the card.  I colored the acorns and oak leaves with copic markers and then cut them out.  I had an idea for a circle card, so I just played with the placement and curve of the sentiment on my acrylic block until I got just right.  I colored a rhinestone to match the acorns (copic marker).  The strip of patterned paper was from my scrap bin.  I have been trying to use up some of my old supplies (including scraps).  I sponged distress ink around the edge of the inner circle and the scallop front and back is cut with my nesties.

Thanks for stopping by!  Make sure you check out Tradefish Designs new challenge blog HERE.  We would love to have you participate!
